Omagh

The renal unit in Tyrone County Hospital opened in August 1989 as a satellite of Belfast City Hospital and developed as an autonomous sub-regional unit from 1993.

The unit subsequently became part of the Western Health and Social Care Trust, and along with its sister unit in Altnagelvin Hospital, provides a comprehensive renal service to a population of around half a million in the north-west and south-western part of Northern Ireland.
