Ram Gokal (1945- )
Ram Gokal was born in Southern Rhodesia, came to the UK as a Rhodes Scholar, and trained in nephrology in Oxford and Newcastle.
As a senior registrar in Newcastle he started the first CAPD programme in the UK, and then moved as consultant nephrologist to Manchester Royal Infirmary where he build the largest CAPD programme in the UK. He gained an international reputation as clinician, teacher, and researcher in peritoneal dialysis. At MRI he established one of the first renal diabetes clinics in the UK. Diabetes-Renal clinic MRI
